DOUBLE HARVEST and Yaw Asante, pastor and evangelist of Messiah Centre in Mfensi, Ghana teamed up to start a modern vegetable growing project as a model of self support for rural pastors and an income generator for the Mfensi Conference Center. Yaw went to participate in the “hands on” agricultural training program provide by DOUBLE HARVEST at Genesis Farms in Debre Zeyt, Ethiopia.

DOUBLE HARVEST assembled the necessary equipment, tools and supplies to start the farm operation on seven acres of farmland in Mankranso, a couple of miles south of the Messiah Centre. A greenhouse and farm store was built; well, water tank tower and drip irrigation system installed on the seven acres. First crop of vegetables found a ready market in Kumsi.

At the Messiah Centre a two acre orchard and vegetable garden was planted to provide fruit and produce for the conference center kitchen.
