Double Harvest South Sudan

Subsistence Farming Grinding the Grain
Subsistence Farming Grinding the Grain

Dreary, desolate and destitute, South Sudan, the last stop before arriving at the edge of the abyss!  “This is a DOUBLE HARVEST mission destination,” so concluded board members Kelly Cantrell, Bert Lemkes and Len van Wingerden after visiting southern Sudan. Dr. JL Williams introduced us to John Nyikako, a Sudanese native with a degree in agronomy and a deep desire to practically help his people.

We directed our focus to Yei and John moved there to partner with us in establishing Eden Keepers Farms, our first agricultural project in the Sudan. The greater the challenge the more rewarding the incremental improvements we have experienced. There is minimal infrastructure; no electrical grid, communications hit and miss, roads are terrible and the political instability palatable.

With God’s blessing and provision, the persistence and hard work of our Sudanese partners and co-workers and the commitment to “keep on keeping on”, our endeavors in this venerable land of the Nile will culminate in a doubling of the harvest.
