Who We Are
In 1966, the Lord laid on the hearts of Aart and Cora the desire to help the needy and to feed the hungry. The Bible says, “If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?” With a farmer’s heart, head and hands, Aart envisioned how best to help his hungry “brother” and came to what he had been doing all along—starting productive, profitable agricultural businesses—but in places where there is poverty and famine. Invoking God’s blessing to receive “the early and late rains” for an abundant harvest, the family mission was named DOUBLE HARVEST. |

We are second and third generation farmers (horticulturalists), part of the extended van Wingerden Family. You could say that plowing fields, sowing seeds, growing flower and vegetable plants, building greenhouses, and tending gardens are all part of our DNA. Our parents, Aart and Cora van Wingerden, immigrated to America in May of 1948. They raised sixteen children (that’s us) and launched as many agricultural enterprises in America and the Netherlands.
